Yeah, but these are BIG clients who have the money, and have sites which won't be rejected. They are willing to join Looksmart, but they refuse to join Yahoo until it changes its policies.

Btw, this thread will probably be deleted as everyone here is scared of Yahoo.

I wouldn't say that. I would say that most people here, like myself, have an appreciation of Yahoo as being one of the best sources of targeted traffic and referrals.

The difference is, that when people have a genuine problem that needs discussing, it always ends up being deleted, and being called Yahoo bashing. This isn't, this is a genuine concern. Clients are now turning their heads away from Yahoo because of their policies. What can be done?

WmW has been the host of many, many discussions concerning Yahoo, and I don't remember one of the important ones being deleted. The ones that get deleted are threads that contain heated comments and complaints that people have......it is off-topic.

When their is a genuine problem like yours, the situation gets its air time.

Regarding your problem:

I would tell your clients to suck it up.....or put it a nice way that will talk them into it. Bottom line: Yahoo isn't going to lower its price, nor should it. Yahoo is a business, and if there business requires $299, then I am going to pay it. If AV wanted me to pay $299, I would rather blow the money in Vegas.

If you want to have a serious discussion that's fine, but to throw a fud in the middle of a thread isn't real productive. If you have a legitimate discussion to bring up (such as where this was split off from), that's great and appreciated. When it gets into flame oriented statements against one company - that's another.

Backus,

It's not a matter of being scared of Yahoo, it's simply a matter of being realistic. Yahoo's a huge corporation and it's very difficult to inflict changes.

Additionally, this board is here as a means to discuss ways of using the search engines and directories to derive benefits from them, to discuss various aspects of these issues, and to share thoughts and ideas. Not to bash these services. This approach doesn't help, you can't derive benefits unless you learn to use them to your advantage.

I've said this many times. If you spend enough time studying and learning Yahoo, they can be a tremendous source of targeted traffic. Play by their rules backus, and the results will be worth it - I guarantee it.

Unless backus is talking about some porn site,I don't see why their clients don't like Yahoo's policy for any clean & legitimate business site.Well we all have our own little secrets...
