Picking the best Yahoo category for submitting...

With the new algo/display, it's harder

With the old Yahoo ranking/display system, you got sites listed in more or less best category order for submission for a search phrase. With the new system, ordered by site, it's not quite so easy... I can see printing out a lot of pages or taking a lot of notes. Anyone figured out an easy way to do this?

Also, I'm wondering if the new system suggests a de-emphasis on drill down....

So far, I think the analysis part is the same. The change hasn't been in place to see much movement of sites yet.

It seems like unless a site is REALLY geared towards a specific region (and they don't do business outside of that region) it is best to stay out of regional categories. A software company located in a particulr region should not go for a regional listing. A real estate site or car care business should go with regional.

It's not quite so easy anymore, but it doesn't appear to have changed extensively. I'm waiting for the next update to get a better impression of what Yahoo's doing.

In the meantime, I'd suggest checking the Category matches on top first, and then drilling down.

Always choose the category closest to the root unless a deeper category includes your keyphrase....

would anyone be interested in doing a test to see if results are the same for searches from different locations, such as diffferent results based upon isp location.
