Results in Europe are different from results in USA.
The most similar results to Yahoo USA are the uk.search.yahoo.com. You can ask to people in USA to do a search for you.
From Europe you can try to log in Yahoo.com (Usa) using an anonymizer software; you can note the difference because you will see the Overture results as well....
I have two theories, one is that an experimental algo may be being used on the .co.uk results, and the other is that the whole thing here in the UK is a complete and utter $%!$^& up. Roll on the next update.
Thanks for the clarification angiolo... was always wondering about that. When i want to know my ranking in the u.s., I use online ranking tools. They're accurate.
I reaaaaaally hope superclown's theory about the experimental algo is wrong... if Y! really decides to base their serps on that algo, I'm buried man! Keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed for the next update.

If you are not hunting after their hand coded searche phrases (for which you can do NOTHING since they decide who gets on the 1st page and stick forever)you will get it-

And true to the Yahoo! yo-yo, I moved to 2nd place right under this site the last 2 days and then got kicked to page #2 again. It's as though this guy watches the serps and if you come close to him, he calls up his secret agent in Y! and say " can you take hime down a couple notches again?"

I'm not sure about this, Followgreg. Viewed from the UK one of my sites is top for a VERY competitive term in yahoo.com. What a pity that it's a UK only site, and everyone in the UK goes to yahoo.co.uk instead, where the site is nowhere! I confess that the logic of this escapes me. What seems to have put it top of yahoo.com is a huge number of rubbish links from scraper sites, which lends support to the theory that Y! are (at least in this particular algo) just counting links and not paying a lot of attention to the quality of those links. I wouldn't be surprised if there are further algo changes next month, whether these are for the better or worse remains to be seen.
if you want a better chance at the uk, host it in th uk.
