Which of the 3 search engines - Google, Yahoo, and MSN has overall produced the best sales conversions for you? Can an affiliate site do extremely well without Yahoo?
In your opinion, is being banned from Yahoo for the reason you sited, sufficient reason to abandon a domain and start fresh with a new one? I invested a lot of time into mine, and it is the perfect domain for what my site is about, so I'm very reluctant to throw it away at this point.
It was just logfile scrutinizing. My stats program shows me the location of my visitors (sunnyvale for Y) and further digging reveals the time/ip, etc; these visits correspond to my reinclusion requests.
It's not fair that they will ban a site simply because it has an affiliate link or two. Futhermore, Google seems to treat sites like this much more objectively. I have had the best results with G and M, completely ignoring Y.
I believe in Karma and Yahoo don't treat webmasters very well. Sure, I get the calls from YPN asking how I am doing, but I always say the same thing "Yahoo Search banned my site, so it's not going very well".
Isn't it funny that a site can be accepted into the directory, sponsor a category ($100 a month for 5 years), and get accepted into YPN Beta, but NOT appear in the serps because some search guy "banned" the site. Double standards and very rude.
I have nothing but praise for MSN. Although they are still very small, they have been very good to me, quite the opposite of Yahoo. Google is indeed very reasonable but difficult to get traffic from due to heavy competition and their infrequent SERPs updates.
A friend recently told me most of the people who search Yahoo are kids looking for freebees.
For webstats, I use free axs tracking. I think it can reveal that kind of information about hits.
Problem mentioned here is what exactly happening with my sites and around 60 sites banned at one go (hosted on same server) but there are 20 more which are not banned.
All good positions are being taken over by JUNK/Blog Comment/Blog results only.
Now I dont know what Y! is planning but IM loosing hope day by day.

I'm hoping MSN will overtake Yahoo. MSN has been very good to me this year.
There are a couple of sites that have only the index page
listed in yahoo! search which checking with the site: command.
I have also noticed other sites with strange behaviour,
where the domain name is not the first position that
shows up when checking using site: which is strange since
they are the pages that have the most "strength" caused
by link popularity.
Those sites used to rank well at yahoo! search and suddenly they dropped.
I sure wish some yahoo! representative could explain their acts.
It seems 2 of my domains that were banned and completely removed from the Yahoo index last year, are suddenly back in the yahoo index, although just the homepage only.
One with full title, description and cache of homepage, and the other with homepage URL only.
If I lost Yahoo with my good site, I wonder how hard it might be to make up for the loss with MSN?
Yahoo might be in the process of removing their penalty from my website. Upon checking site:www..., I see for the first time in a year, another page other than my homepage is appearing in the yahoo index complete with full Title, description and cache. Also some of my dead links have been cleared. I hope this positive trend continues.
It appears Yahoo may be lifting the ban on another one of my domains. Homepage title with description and cache is back for that one, where it was completely banned before.

Yahoo is showing 130 urls associated with my site, on the site: search.
The homepage is listed first, with it's directory title. Then the internal urls are listed URL only. Many (over 50%) of the urls listed are phony and contain nonsense query strings.
In reality, my site only has 38 pages. So, I am not sure why Yahoo indexes it this way. What puzzles me is the fact that more than just the homepage is listed. Normally, with a "ban", only the homepage is indexed. But, Yahoo has listed my site this way for over a year.

However 2 days later the Yahoo index bounced back to an older index of my site with only my homepage fully indexed and cached, also an older version of my homepage, and including all the dead links. A week after that, my homepage link was finally updated to reflect it's current title and description. I'm right back to where I began, Nothing gained.
At this point I wonder if I should consider calling Yahoo on the phone to inquire about the status of my website. I found their corporate phone number and address in CA.

My site currently has about 157 pages including my blog pages. A Yahoo site:www search currently shows 234 links, most of which are to old scraper pages I removed a year ago, before the Yahoo penalty occurred. 90% of these site: links get a 404 Not Found error since the pages don't exist, yet Yahoo hasn't removed them from their index.

Meanwhile, over in the Google and MSN forums, they have representatives working with us, and communicating. They are taking our reports, listening to what we have to say (even via sticky mail), and making their search better. Their market shares will continue to expand.
How funny is this: they accepted me into YPN and then banned my site. LOL. How do they expect to make their investors any money with this philosophy? No traffic = NO YPN clicks (Well the site gets traffic, but it comes from other search engines. Do you think I am gonna keep the YPN banners up?)
Yahoo, keep banning sites and ignoring us. It may not matter too much a year from now.

I admit I have not responded professionly to this issue. After going over my site looking for violations of Yahoo's guidelines(again) and finding nothing(again); I quit worrying about it. I know I should try and contact a person and work to restore my ranking with Yahoo but at this point I'm sick of it and feel my time is better spent focusing on G and MSN(and ASK for that matter, I'm that over it).
In the last year my main site has been anywhere from 4th to not in the top 1,000 in a lucrative market. Yahoo has at different times shown 1 page as indexed and other times well over 10k pages. I suppose sooner or later I'll have another shot at fixing the issue if it doesn't fix itself, but for now I'm spending my time in other ways.
