Paid Submission and Good Titles

One of the latest sites that I put up seems to be getting the most, and the best, referrals from Yahoo.

I have never experienced this before with a site, we have always gotten the most referrals from Google.

I really think that the paid submissions along with using a really good title and description is a large factor in seeing good results from Yahoo.

Anyone else seeing results like this from Yahoo?

I believe that the Yahoo!/Google combination is unbeatable when it comes to traffic and will get progressively better as the other SE's degrade; they win by default. I can't use AV, Excite or any of the others for any worthwhile searches, why would anyone else? As far as SEO efforts go, I just buy clicks on the AV, Excite, AOL engines, it is much cheaper than any SEO time that I would waste on them.

Google's power is in the ability to show up under a lot of keywords. Yahoo still brings a ton of traffic but like you said, need the good title and description.

I've seen a combination of both. Yahoo continues to be our powerhouse. With a site ranking top 3 in Yahoo (serps), yahoogoogle, and google, most of the traffic comes from Yahoo. Very qualified traffic.

Yahoo and Google used to be dead even in traffic for me. As Google indexed more of my site, they now bring in 3X the amount of traffic as Yahoo. Yahoo listings have not changed significantly to account for the change.

In the past Google pulled more for me but since paid submission Yahoo has been the leader in domains I run. Since its introduction I've been able to increase the accuracy of my Yahoo keyword combinations and the number of different keyword combinations significantly.

So yeah, being able to get better title/description combinations with greater ease has put Yahoo ahead of Google in the number of referals I see also.

I'm in crisis at the moment. Yahoo used to be our powerhouse but... Google is going from strength to strength. That, in itself is great, but for some unknown reason the traffic from Yahoo! seems to be inversely proportional to that from Google.

The better we do on Google the worse we do on Yahoo!

Any ideas why we would suddenly fly up one and down another? Would you recomment the paid placements on Yahoo!?

Very good for establishing good page rank on a new site, even better if you can get a good title and description.

To add to my confusion (see above) the exact opposite has just started happening. Yahoo traffic increasing and Google declining.

Is there some hidden logic I'm missing here?

Joshie....I am seeing the same thing.

It's weird, every other site that I have had has seen Google as #1 and Yahoo #2, but now the it is reversed.

James how about an established site with reasonable PR (currently 4 I think), would a Yahoo listing improve the PR and is that alone worth the cash ?
