Yahoo replaced my original website with new separate site

Why?

I have a website that has been in Yahoo and other search engines for several years.
I recently started a new company and I created a new website for the new company. The businesses are similar yet completely different companies.

When I submitted the new site to yahoo they (very quickly) replaced my original website with the new website in the exact ranking location as the original. Why can I not have 2 websites with similar content but not duplicate content?
What happened and how can I fix this?
