Yahoo! Glue (beta) [ysearchblog.com]
You may have heard about our experimental visual display of search results on Yahoo! India, called Glue(TM) Pages. Tonight we're launching a similar, but slightly different experience in the U.S. with Yahoo! Glue(TM) beta. This newest iteration is a standalone experience focused on assembling useful information from all over the Web, giving users a new place to discover and explore images, videos, articles and more.

We're starting with a limited set of topics (more will be added over time), pulling together content from the best places on the Web onto one Yahoo! Glue(TM) page. These pages are built using an algorithm that automatically places the most relevant modules on a page, giving you a visually rich, diverse page all about the topic in which you're interested.

Very biased towards locations.

For placename queries it seems that Yahoo has deals with specific companies, which makes this service different from a random search experience, as in Yahoo Search itself.

The Related Pages link is sometimes not too well related. For example, a search for Mumbai shows Agra as a related page. Why? Are most people interested in Mumbai tourists?

Ambiguous locations such as Richmond throws it into a spin, showing both Richmond, VA and Richmond the suburb of Melbourne prominently, and a handful of other Richmonds all over the page. :)

Ambiguous people such as Washington also confuse it, which is not surprising, but George Washington brings forth a lot of political news.

But a good start for a beta.

Man, nothing but (relevant) YouTube videos listed for my "pet" site's main keyword (the name of the organization that it represents). No content whatsoever from the site itself, or from any sites that link to it... :(

I'm actually surprised that the name of this site's organization is a Glue "subject" at all -- It's a very minor niche site and subject, so getting this attention at the Beta level is a rather pleasant surprise. I just hope they pick up a wider range of references to the subject -- and soon.
