For example, my site is recently ranked #18 on Google, #5 on MSN and #75 on Yahoo for the phrase [widgets] (and #18 on Google, #22 on MSN and #225 on Yahoo for [widget]).
Based on the research I've done, I thought Yahoo cared more about on page content, and my initial thoughts about were:
* Not enough content on homepage
* Not enough content on site
* Not enough changing content
But this doesn't explain why some less-optimized websites outperform in Yahoo.
For example, a competitors site is ranked #14 on Yahoo for [widgets] with a static homepage that has less text on it than my site. That site is a PageRank 4 site with 5 pages and only 178 inbound links according to AllTheWeb.
My site is a PageRank 5 website with dozens of pages and 2,440 inbound links.
I'd really appreciate any advice. Thank you.
