I am not in the US, I have been seeing the new Yahoo for about a week now, waiting for the US to catch up. i.e. sometimes the foreign countries seems to be guinea pigs and we see weird things going on that are not yet launched in the US.
So, from my end, Yahoo is now showing the Ads - 3 across the top highlighted in blue, 8 to 10 down the right margin, and three more highlighted in blue across the bottom.
The entire area "above the fold" is the ADS. Organic SERPS being below the fold.
The SERPS are totally different. It looks as if a BIG plus has been given to very old sites. As you say, some are so old the owners seem to have forgotten they exist, look like they haven't been updated in 3 or 4 years. Others are updated, but the domains have existed for many years.
Backlinks also seem to play a more important role, but that may also be related to history - 5 year old sites will typically have alot more backlinks than 1 year old sites.
There also seems to be a BIG correlation to the top returns in various searches I have done - guess - the top sites have listings in the Yahoo Directory. In all fairness, I should also point out that many of those listings date back to the times before Yahoo was charging for directory listings. Hmmm Hmmm.
The second page is structured the same - next 10 organic results are still below the fold. But #11-20 look more like regular websites with reasonable up-to-date content, and not showing any Yahoo Directory listing.
Does anyone else around the world see this?
How is that possible and how to request yahoo for it's re-in-inclusion?
A few of my clients have old domains and Y!Directory listings, and their positions are holding up well. Newer sites and those without Yahoo Directory listings have dropped, but not gone.
hawk, you may have a different issue - have you typed your domain in www.example.com - does Yahoo still have you indexed at all?
Abuse means using too much explicit keywords internal text links.
Results 21 - 30 of about 12,504 for www.site.com but not the index page.
They are in stiff competition with Google, you can not provide Serps like this and remain in Competition. If I were to bet, I'll bet the boys at the GooglePlex are having a big laugh at the Yahoo Serps. I thought after a month they would revert to the old, as Google has done in the past. But they keep with this same index day in day out. Like I say Im still in the their index just not 100% more like 60% of what I once was. But to be honest a search engine cant loose their path.
In order to stay in business THEY MUST provide relivent search results, if they steer this path, they will see a nice peak for their advertising sales then a huge down hill that they will never recover from.
Your point is well made. This may just be the first steps toward more clean-up.

Looks like thats down the pan at the minute doesn't it.
3 of my keyphrases that were previously in the top 10 are completely gone at the moment and by that I mean beyond 100.
Overall, the 125 keyphrases dropped 300 positions. The yahoo updates always seem to change over time so I'm wondering if there is more to follow.
At least they did an accurate job of describing the link... it takes you to a server login form for administration of the site in question. :)
ya, sorry, bit of a rant there... just frustrated.
I see my site is now missing and when I search for my homepage title I get a site that has copied me and uses some sort of redirect that infects the visitors with trogen virus's.
Being beat by some sort of spammer is one thing but anyone trying to find me now get a virus, that should be dealt with right away.
