Site Shows up in Yahoo World Search but not Regional Search

Anyone had a similar effect?

Since the update started, we have gone from none to a couple of hundred pages listed if you type the site address in a web search.

If, however, you type the same address in for a local search (in our case New Zealand only sites) it's not listed. Has anyone noticed the same? My hunch is that over the next week or two this will move over and our site will be listed in the national SERPS.

edd1,

Yes, we are seeing a similar error in au.yahoo.com -- A .com.au site that was #1 for AU Only pages is nowhere to be found, but changing the scope to The Web finds it at #41!

When I search for it in NZ Only, it's not there, but I am seeing pages from .hk (IP address in USA) and .au (IP address also in USA).

Something is broken.

still the same here, must be the same thing, I'd have thought it would have changed by now.

I wonder if it's part of a sandbox effect i.e. stop sites ranking in their own area (make them less competitive in own market) but keep them in the index?

It's the same for me. I'm a .co.uk commercial site, only really selling into the UK. I've now got dangerously high listings worldwide, but I'm not even in the uk index. I've been waiting patiently through the yahoo update, but still no change. Has anybody got a clue how to go about getting something like this sorted out?

I'm pretty convinced it's to make you uncometitive in your own marketplace so as to spend money on their advertising programms by creating a time lag. I, for one, won't be playing that game. Messing about with the SERPs to further financial interests is dangerous for a search engine as the public will ultimately judge them on the quality of those results and not how good their paid listings look etc.
