Yahoo Acquires News Aggregator BuzzTracker

Yahoo has announced a small acquisition in the news space: it has bought news aggregator and blog tracking site BuzzTracker.

The site’s founder Alan Warms has joined as GM and VP of Yahoo’s news division.

Chicago-based BuzzTracker aggregates content from news sites and blogs, then organizes the content into various topics.

I'm biased, I don't think this is good news but then I don't approve of sites having the sole purpose of scraping others content to promote their brand.

I never saw the value in BuzzTracker other than sending some traffic my way. What is the big deal if all you do is to find articles from other websites and simply link to them - an idiot can do that. Where is the value created?
