I submitted about 7 sites about 2 months ago requesting changes. So far nothing has changed. Anyone have an opinion on how often they usually take?

The original site descriptions listed were only like 5 words!!! So my change request is for better descriptions. Thank you for any input.

legster,

I would suggest re-submitting every 2-3 months but you don't want to submit them all at once. I would begin to re-submit one a month at this point.

Legster,
Unfortunately, Yahoo rarely changes anything. Did you submit the changes through their form? If so, I still have yet to see that work.
You may want to try emailing the editors that accepted your sites.
You may want to try resubmitting the changes again - you might get lucky ;)

Good luck!

It is difficult to get a listing updated. I've tried to get a couple updated for YEARS (97), and it has never been changed. This fact has led to many people submitting the competition sites with bad descriptions.

Thanks for the response guys.

I wonder if it is possible to submit again and pay? Would that fix the problem?

I mean a 5 word description for a very popular and profitable web site is kind of sad. What is another 200 bucks considering the fact of all the traffic we are not getting from a lousy 5 word descriprion. Whatcha think?

Legster, tell me about it. If I thought it would work I would shell out the $200.00 in a nano-second. The description I got from Yahoo is a complete joke.

If you are willing to risk $200.00 then I would suggest you try it. Just say goodbye to the cash and hope for the best. Submit a good description that has a good chance of making it thru and use the "30-day appeal" period if you have to after you get a response in 7 days.

If you choose to do this, be sure to include a note somewhere on the submission of what you are trying to do, or else they may simply reply saying, "sorry, you're already listed in the directory."

If this occurrs, be sure to reply to the editor sending the rejection letter RIGHT AWAY and explain the situation. Explain that you've been trying to get the description changed and are willing to pay them another $200 for a better description. This should get you in (ideally) with a good description.

I'm going to try it. First though, I am going to write 5 different descriptions and weed out the best one. I'll let you know how I make out. Wish me luck! ;~)

It can't be done.

When you proceed to step two, Yahoo intervenes and says, "Yahoo! Business Express Suggestion Failed
Step One of your submission request was not accepted because:
This URL already exists in Yahoo!."

Sorry to hear that pmac.

Maybe if you try calling you might be able to get through to somebody.

Good luck!

Can I get a drum roll please!!!!!!

On the advice of 2_much, I emailed the original Y! editor, and instead of whining about how much the poor description was hurting my business, I explained that the description was doing a diservice to Y! users because they were unable to find me through a kw search. I let the editor know that I was willing to pay the $199 fee again to resubmit. As a result, I just recieved the following email:

Dear Business Express Client,

This email is in response to your appeal regarding the URL submitted

<url:http://www.mydomain.com>

with Business Express Order #7xxxxxx. After reviewing your appeal,
we have made the requested changes. The changes should appear in
the database within the next 2 to 4 business days.

I haven't seen the revised description yet, but I still can't wipe the grin off my face. Thanks 2_much!!!!

Wow! Good job Pmac. But believe it when you see it.

Please let us know when and if they change it, and if they actually implement the changes you wanted or some of them.

I take it they are doing this without the money right?

Let us know, and good luck!

Description was changed. Not to a great extent mind you, but chnged none the less. The old description did not have any of my kw's in it, so I wouldnt come up in the SERP'S at all. You had to dig the directory. Now I can be found. :)

Thanks again!
