And its clear that for many the opportunity cost of being in the directory is too attractive, and they spend there money elsewere.
But there is always a steady flow of experienced people that quitely point out that its an authority link, even mentioned in google webmaster guidelines ect ...
I have never seen anyone mention that the vast majority of this authority directory is in googles supplemental index.
check here and you can see that of the 1,9 million odd indexed pages in google yet oon results page 950 the supplmental result tag appears.
Thats 199 out of ever 200 results in the supplemental index (if my maths has not let me down).
Am i doing making a crass error (its likely), or is it that a link froma manyly supplementally indexed site is not as authoritative as we like to think.
