Yahoo Ranking Factors

We have been discussing what the factors are for ranking in Yahoo. We have come across that Yahoo still values links and keyword metatags, where Google does not. We have also started discussing code issues, such as placing javascript code into a .js file and calling it when needed. We think that this may clean up the code and make it more friendly for the robots to crawl it. We have also began thinking about going with tableless designs.

Another factor that we have come across is whether or not Yahoo favors those that pay for inclusion. If someone pays Yahoo to have their site included in the index, does Yahoo rank the site above those that use the free submit option.

I monitor the search position of a few of my sites and I think you can buy your way to the top with google but not with yahoo. I have a site that is consistantly in the top 10 for a few of my main keywords. Last week I stopped the "Yahoo search marketing" account and this week when I checked my keywords I was not in the top 1000 on any keyword. I basically disapeared!

I am waiting to hear from them. My opinion is that their "natural results" are no longer real but instead determined by their direct income.

If you have a free listing in the directory can you also pay for inclusion and maybe get listed in 1 or 2 other categories?

Supafresh - They say you're not supposed to submit anywhere if you are already listed in their directory at all.

But I've seen sites that have had many multiple entries accepted in different categories. Not sure if they check well, or how those slipped thru. Suspect the submissions were all made simultaneously.

Do you see a category you think will give you more "link pop" or think 2 listings better than one, or what?

well the company i work for at the time, was ok with a listing a single category. Now the company has grown into other areas that we should be listed in.

This is very obvious result and outcome we expect when we stop yahoo search marketing for our clients. This has been seen and observed for more than few occasion now for us. My personal belief, Yahoo Search Marketing is easy direct way to get in to organic SERP of Yahoo in US (only US)
