# 1 in yahoo, no clicks

We are #1 in yahoo organic search and have been for over a month. No leads at all. The kw terms are very popular with thousands of searches each month. The copy on the site has successfully been used before on another site.

Any suggestions?

sure it isn't in preferences or saved in your yahoo have u checked the yahoo search from another differeent ip address just to make sure it is actually the number 1 position as this just doesn't sound corrrect

Yes, checked the site from several other IP addresses, including different cities. Comes up # 1 on yahoo from all of them.

All I can say is somebody has to be stealing the traffic I am sure you have clicked on the listings as well and looked in the logs to see if they are being sent to your site as this just doesn't make sense

if they are competitive you are getting hits as yahoo gets enough traffic for that as our main traffic sender is yahoo

If you have checked and the have seen the referral from this search then

1-the term isn't as competitive as you say
2-I don't have a clue

Bring the search up that has your site number 1 and click on the search it should take u to your sits home page. move around your site.

Now in your server logs or however you track traffic you should see yahoo as the referring agent and the keyword that brought the visitor to the site.

If you don't then how do you not know you arn't getting any traffic?

how are you tracking the traffic you are getting?

Are you aware of the fact that several browsers no longer deliver the referrer information

are you simply relying on a hit counter an feeling that you should be getting more visits for your ranking on Yahoo

How many searches does this term get in a month? If nobody is searching on the term, you're not going to get any clicks. I found that the key to search term selection is to find the following:

A minimum of 100 searches in Overture
Less than 1,500 competing pages in Yahoo and Google for that term. (be sure to place the phrase in quotes)
