Yahoo! Inc. is expanding its research labs to develop new features and attract customers as it battles Google Inc., the company's main competitor.

Yahoo!'s labs will focus on developing mathematical formulas to find information faster, the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company said yesterday. Spokeswoman Kiersten Hollars declined to give details on how much Yahoo! spends on research or how many people the labs employ.

Looking forward to the competition. Interesting announcement coming on the heels of losing Dr. Gary Flake.

heh - seems like they are more interested these days in removing data than they are adding it. They need to get a focus group that can fix the scraper BS and duplicate bans that are not warranted!
