Multiple Directory Listings Hurt Search Listings?

I work for company that has 20+ sites almost all of which have listings in the Yahoo directory. As I was just reading the directory removal instructions I found that they say they do not allow one company to have multiple listings in the directory.

Would this be cause to remove my natural search listings? We no longer appear for any searhes (almost all of which we were top 10) but searches on domainname.com. I thought Yahoo kept their directory and search seperate. Any help on this one?

That messsage has been there for at least 8-9 years dcougar, probably longer. When Yahoo switched to a paid directory multiple listings from the same companies begin to pop up in a variety of categories. Some large companies will take the risk and some smaller one's. My research on various categories indicate Yahoo might have penalized some of your sites and url's but not all of them.

"Duplicate listings" is not "multiple listings".

Multiple children is not the same as duplicate children.

I entirely agree that there is a distinct difference between 'multiple listings' and 'duplicate listings'. The grey area comes in to the expression

"No. If you find a company that is listed under more than one URL or title, please let us know by sending an email to our"

One company under different url's...what does that mean? If the site is identical...well that's a no brainer but what if the sites are similar in look but the content is unique? Each of our sites is a seperate LLC does that count as one company having a listing under several url's or what?

There response (as usual) seems vague at best.

"Does the Yahoo! Directory allow duplicate listings?"
