I have been told that the incoming links that show from in the Google search of
link:www.anydomain.com mean very little.

However I assume that incoming links that show up from the Yahoo search
link:www.anydomain.com are usually dominated at the top by the higher quality links.

Are my assumptions correct?

Google is now showing more links in it's Webmasters Tools console, so you might want to take a look at that to see what's new.

Yahoo Siteexplorer is probably about the best for checking links as you can see them a few different ways.

Back at last year's Boston PubCon Yahoo's Tim Mayer intimated that yes, the links Yahoo returns are possibly, maybe, more or less in order of importance, kind of.

So, put as much weight as you'd like on that.

Thanks jimbeetle

You mention that Tim Mayer intimated....possibly...maybe...more or less...kind of.

Sounds a little iffy.

Do you have anything concrete on this? I hope.
