I recently submitted my site through the Business Express system, had a few problems... (see this forum)http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum35/302.htm
and we are now in.
I had a look for our site under our main keyword and was dismayed to see that we have been ranked 82nd - fourth page.
We have this keyword in our domain, the title and in the description! We rank really well in google but yahoo has put our listing below some completely irrelevent sites that happen to have that same string in their description only.
How do Yahoo come up with their rankings? Is it likely to improve once we loose the "new" tag and the database gets re-shuffled?
Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi Doozer, I'm not sure if you're referring to your listing in the category or in the SERP.
If you're talking about the category, Yahoo organizes those alphabetically.
If you're referring to search results page, then yes, it does take time for a site to get ranked in the first page of the directory SERP. Having the KW in the title and description should prove instrumental in helping you get ranked, as well as other factors.
The other possiblity is Yahoogle? Is that what you mean by 4th page? Again, if this is the case, give your site time to rise in the rankings. If it doesn't, you might want to try making a few changes on the site to see if rankings improve...make it more sticky, and be sure you include your keyword in anchor tags and in all pertinent locations.

Good luck!
