Yahoo Announces New Mobile Web Services "Go for Mobile 2.0"

yahoo announced Go for Mobile 2.0 monday at the consumer electronics show in vegas.

The software, a revamped version of technology that the company introduced last year, makes it easy to move among various online services providing news, sports scores, maps, weather, movies, photos and e-mail. The free ad-supported services will be tailored to match a user’s settings, like ZIP code and stock preferences, on Yahoo’s existing online services.

The software will also be equipped with a search service, oneSearch, that will interpret a user’s intent and deliver results accordingly.

The new iPod-phone offers a mail client that uses Yahoo and has Yahoo search built-in.

I read this headline on the home page using a handheld computer. When I typed in Yahoo.com I got a notice that my browser was out of date and just saw the same large page as a regular computer and browser.

Setting up a detection script to check for wap devices should have been at the top of the list:)
