Terry Semel brushes off talk of Yahoo turning into a movie story in this AP Story [story.news.yahoo.com] on Yahoo.

Speaking at a media conference Tuesday, Semel said it would be ridiculous for Yahoo to produce its own movies or television shows — because the Internet requires more interactive experiences than traditional media.

I enjoy yahoo's music video section, but I doubt they could ever produce their own content.

Ever see those one minute video clips for cellphones? They are terrible and a huge flop.

Battlestar Galactica did an experiment by releasing its first episode legally on the web without commercials (using realmedia). Supposedly a success story but that's rare and it's a heck of a show.

(but I also hear there is this star trek show that needs a home, lol)

Tried and failed (Finance Vision). Yahoo is an aggregator. Think TV station, not movie studio.
