Frustrated with my Yahoo Ranking

I'm so frustrated with Yahoo! In the last few months, I've been banned from Yahoo! and they refuse to tell me why. I run an anti-spam blog <SNIP> so I assume some spammer is doing something to get his revenge. In the meanwhile, they promote admitted spammers. Pathetic. <SNIP>

Well, its probably not much comfort but you have a lot of company. This approach they have of doling out death penalties is difficult to understand, and unfortunately they don't talk about it.

It would seem prudent, productive and of benefit to their users if they would communicate about why they do this, and open up a new and effective system of gaining re-inclusion. The million dollar question is why do they continue to exclude sites that do in fact meet the guidelines.

randymorin: Take my advice: Get over it and move forward without Yahoo. You are not missing much traffic anyhow.

You are not banned if your pages still show up if you do a site:example.com search.

System: The following message was spliced on to this thread from: http://www.webmasterworld.com/yahoo_search/3124535.htm [webmasterworld.com] by martinibuster - 11:40 am on Oct. 18, 2006 (utc -8)

I know I shouldn't get too bent out of shape about it, but we suck in Yahoo. At G, we're very happy with the results, #1 for the key term, with additional links. At Yahoo though, we're not even top 10, with other younger and much smaller sites in front of us. It's really only Yahoo that's the issue. MSN, Ask, etc. we're all fine. Would love to hear any thoughts.

Well they have become a little more subtle about it than that. Remember the old Jeff Foxworthy act “you might be a redneck?”

Take the test!

If you enter www.domain.com in Yahoo and only the index page comes up; “You might be penalized!”

If you then click on the “more from this site” link and the additional pages that come up do not have the word “cached” after the url; “You might be penalized!”

If you take the entire title of your site, no matter how long and unique, and even place it in quotes, and search for it and your site doesn’t come up; “You might be penalized!”

If you do a site:domain.com search every day for 30 days and each day there are less pages returned; “You might be penalized!”

Of course you can take their recommended test at; [add.yahoo.com...]

specifically, “To see if a site or page is listed in the Yahoo! Search Index, enter a phrase (5-10 words) unique to the page in the search box below. Make sure to enclose your phrase in quotation marks.”, but the above one is much more accurate!
