Last update we went from being # 2 for 2 years to # 27.

Just jumped back, Home page ranks for a lot of phrases, where before interior pages were all over the first pages, 2 at a time.

Looking at my logs it appears as though something is going on with Y!. (That's why I visited this forum) We lost some traffic (20% drop) back in August but today it looks like we are ranking better than ever.

Still too early to tell if this is a pattern or just a busy Wednesday.

I have seen some huge changes in the serps for yahoo this week. Looks like there is an update going on....

Just when things started looking better on my end. For about a week there, I seen some crap pages get dumped from the search results... now it's back to total garbage.

Maybe it's the first stage of an update?

I just looked at my logs again, it looks like we are starting to rank better on a broader range of terms.

I haven't looked to closely at the SERPs themselves, but we've been working hard for three months now updating our information and making it a lot more useful from a user's perspective. Even though we've added only a few new pages in the past three months (we used to add a page a day) we're adding quite a bit of valuable information to our existing pages.

Looks like that effort might pay off.

The SERPs I watch juggled a bit, but nothing drastic. Once again, like a couple weeks ago during the temporary shift, the Y directory is playing a bigger role, and the live/blogspot stuff appears to be more prevalent. Links from authority sites are also much more important than they used to be; one site I watched jumped from AWOL to #1 after purchasing some big name backlinks...I wonder how long that will last.

Good thing I didn't adjust a thing for Yahoo....All of my sites are now back in the top 10. Dominating all 3 search engines again and couldn't be happier. I knew those last sets of SERP's were absolute junk. Now the sites that were in the top 10 are nowhere to be found. Thank god I didn't change for YAHOO!

Much improved results in this iteration. As most who consult for or have serious content-heavy websites know, the results are more in line the real value of the sites and jive better with the other major search engines.

Seems like they devalued some backlinks that i had. Either paid or directory backlinks, not sure...I bought the Yahoo directory link about 2 weeks ago and that gave me a boost. I was ranking #1 for all my big terms now down to #3,#4 for some.

the last six months, my homepage went missing from the serps (even when I search for my domain name) and internal pages replaced my homepage in key phrase search results.

Now at least my homepage is back at #2 when I search for my domain name. (sigh... shouldn't it be #1?) and my main key phrase search returns my homepage at #19. Actually from my point of view, Yahoo, hasn't started fluxing. They never stopped!

one of the phrases i watch,

#1 SITES TITLE "WE ARE CLOSED FOR THE SEASON", site has one page(homepage), they went out of Bus. 2 Years ago.

Way to go Yahoo... serps are much better with this algo change. All authority sites seem to back where they are supposed to be... on the first page.

One of the most ridiculous updates ever! (and Y! has done bad in the past already but this one...)

I am not saying they do it on purpose, I think they are incompetent. When I see more niche authority sites dropping down to nowhere + spammy or totally outdated pages getting page 1 I find it ridiculous.

SPAM ME, SPAM ME <<<--- is what those SERP tell me. Please spam me with website that are part of my Yahoo Search Marketing program so by providing terrible organic results I get even more money from Pay Per Click!

How much do they spend on research again?
Or is their only goal to set us up so we click on paid links? (as they were sued for doing so in the past I think)

I don't think that they really know what they're doing :)

They did nasty things in the past, they still do when hand coding competitve search results (which shows how much they think of their own algorithm) but now I just think that they are lost.

If Google goes with social networking like when buying youtube, well it's time for Y! shareholders to get their money back and leave.

Anyway, poor webmasters don't worry, for what the amount of Traffic from Yahoo is compared to Google...

I am not an expert but I challenge everyone with showing me what direction they want to go to with such pitiful so called updates.
They get caught in ABSOLUTELY any SEO trick! Do they actually use their own search engine? I doubt it!

Yes, we are seeing a lot of shifts. Did yahoo recently hire anyone from msn? Results are looking more like msn's

My sites' home pages don't seem to be showing up as well, but internal pages still rank relatively well. Seems like a pretty major update from what I have seen.

I don't touch anything. Every three months Yahoo considers my site an authority, then pulls it and places it around 25th. Happens usually during every update.

Guess it was pull time, should see top ten again in about 3 months :P

Oh wow, some of my sites got huge bumps up, a couple to #1.
Results match Google much more closely now (and some even better).

But honestly, very little of my traffic is from Yahoo.
We'll see how this affects this month.

Last month's percentages from one site as example:
Google 80 %
Yahoo 8 %
MSN 4 %
AOL 2 %

The only results that are looking good after the upadte are the handcoded ones.
Pure rubbish if you search for two or three term keywords.

A Yahoo Directory Entry seems to be more important than ever. If you look at the results that donīt have an entry -below the results with an entry :-) you see worst results ever.

Not seeing any changes, only that my UK site is sailing on yahoo.com (which is of no use to me) and sinking on yahoo.co.uk for my chosen keywords, no idea why.

Other than that things are pretty much the same for the keywords i'm looking at.

For sure big changes...

Yahoo changes are from multiple data centers. See your site's keyword from Yahoo on your browser and it will be so different on your neighbors computer.

From Italy on yahoo.com I do not see any update.
local results are still the same since long time .....

To verify the update I have to use an Anonymous Proxy or Altavista.com.

My opinion is that it is not a big update, only a small glitch.
It seems to me that yahoo gives too weight on the keywords in URL....

This is exactly what happens with one of my major client sites. They're ranked between 1-10 on their top 20 phrases, Yahoo does an update and they tank, and then over the following month or six weeks, they climb right back up to where they were before. All without my doing a thing to the site.
