Is anyone else besides me having trouble in Yahoo ranking?

I've been slowly moving up for a bit now, and then dropped several spots recently.

Looking at the people ahead of me, I see a lot of garbage. Sure theres the people that I'll even admit beat me, but there are some results that just don't make sense.

Alibaba pages, geo cities pages, and other sites that have little to no content and not even close to the amount of links I have.

Funny, do a search for "Trash" like we all mention and not one site has anything to do with what most of us would think "Garbage, Trash, Waste, etc." would have to do with.

I think environmental waste...Yahoo thinks a video game, a club called trash, geocities, alice cooper, a movie, wikipedia(good result that at least provides a definition), another reference to a movie, music and finally another movie about anime.

Indeed...Trash Results Yahoo.

Sorry for the reference and it may be against TOS but I thought it was a good measure of Yahoo's quality and an honest laugh. :>

Of course though Google doesn't do much better....

YOU GET A FREE 16 oz. ICED COFFEE
Just for having Yahoo.com as your Home Page

My day just got a lot cooler. I made Yahoo my home page. All I need to do is login to my Yahoo ID, print out the coffee coupon and take it to my local U.S. participating Dunkin Donuts. Then I get to enjoy the rich, cool taste of iced java--and the new Yahoo! But I must hurry, because it expires after today!

LIMIT 850,000 coupon prints! :>~

YEEEEESSSSSS!

I've been having problems with Y! since day 1 but it's been a real YoYo! since March 2006!

Then something magical happened! I came out of Google's sandbox in July. Made it to 100+ for my main keyword in August. Now at #7.

And what was my ranking in Yahoo since March?

18, 23, 10, 30, 40, 37, 28, 3, 9, 11, 27, 56, then totally out, then they exchanged my homepage with an internal page in the serps, 18, 28, 34, 46, 52....

Soooo... can you see the uniqueness of Yahoo? There IS NO pattern! I hate to sound like so many others, but while Y! gave me good targetted traffic when I'm up in the serps, they fluctuate like hell. In the one month that I've broken into the top ten in Google, my traffic from G! is at least 10 times that of Y!

I don't optimize for Y! anymore... except maybe this one thing might help some of you.

Someone posted a thread a while ago about the weight of a site's keyword density in the new Y! algo. If you lower your kw density to a really low figure, you might just get somewhere.

I'm having problems with Yahoo for keywords that are number 1 in Google.

What are the main SEO factors for Yahoo?
Quality of links
Quantity of links
On-site optimisation
etc...

no seo factors

due to the algo switching between different levels each quarter. Hence why the results are cr@p.

As i see it, one quarter may be high density, high on page factors, high anchor back links, next quarter it could be low density, low on page factors, low anchor back links and so it moves on each quarter.

Im yet to see any site rank well in Yahoo on an ongoing basis all year round for all of its major search terms.

They think its a way to up adword sales but all it does is weaken the quality of the serps and lower the users trust in using them over other search engines

We are also having problems with Yahoo for keywords that are number 1 in Google, MSN, also we noticed on with our Keyword that the first page do not jive with the rest of the pages in how many pages they have indexed.

Keyword on first page -1 - 10 of about 8,000,000
Keyword on second page -11 - 20 of about 9,410,000
keyword on third page - 21 - 30 of about 11,900,000

It seems that the pages are increasing as you go deeper to search where you are.
