Yahoo! To Power Search On Acer PC's

Yahoo! has signed a "multi-year" deal with Acer to ensure that Yahoo! is the default search and homepage for Internet Explorer an all Acer computers.

Acer sold 2.6m PC's last year.

Our goal is to give users choice," Dan Rosensweig, Yahoo's chief operating officer, said. "We have always lived in a world where people had a choice and wanted to come to us," he said.

yeah this is about the only way yahoo will be able to get new people to use it's search engine. and I'm sure 99% of them will change their settings to google the day they unpack it.

I agree with that 100%. With running a community based site of non techie people It really opened my eyes to the average internet joe's ablilty. I was shocked to read recently on my forum that a good deal of members didn't have any idea of how to make it their homepage.

Yahoo is alright, but I know all the acer systems we setup for our clients will be setup with google before they leave the shop.
