301's producing unwanted results on Yahoo

Redirects on Yahoo producing incorrect Title and old URL address

We 301 redirected a URL and the SERP result in Yahoo shows the Meta Title and description of the receiving page, but the URL of the old referring site. So we get:

Meta Title This is the site it is redirected to
Meta Description This is the site it is redirected to
URL shown This is the old URL of the referring site.

Is this a mistake by Yahoo or intentional? Google just shows the new site.

1. Does the 301 work - check a few random pages.

2. Be sure to remove ALL content from the old site

3. How long has it been? These things can take time.

4. How old was the old site? If it was fairly new, that might exlain it.

5. Has the new site got incoming links? get some, and get as many of the old ones changes ASAP.

301s are fine 95% of the time, but they can take time. For a well established site that is moved without serious rebuilding, the transmission is usually smooth, but you will inevitably dip in the serps for a while, and will not regain your 'old'position until you've been there a while and have a good set of quality links.

But ALWAYS do a personal, manual test of the 301, however good the code looked!

Plus worth doing a link check with xenu link sleuth.

All of those check points are OK, but it's Yahoo alone that's giving us grief.

I've got no idea why that is so.
