UK site doing poorly on UK Yahoo but well on .com

I have a site (UK specific) that since the last update has dropped 20-30 places (if not more) for many of it's search terms where it was once in the top 10 in Yahoo UK.

However in the Yahoo .com version when i do the same searches it seems to be doing very well (number 1 for many keywords)

The site in question is also hosted in the UK.

Is there a different algo running in the UK than in the global .com?

Yahoo was my main traffic provider since Google still has it sandboxed (even after a year) so this kind of thing has hit the traffic quite hard.

Any ideas as to how I could fix this?

Yep it's a different algo running on.co.uk and unfortunately most people in the UK use that address instead of .com. It's influenced more by links than content, in fact good content can be detrimental to your search position for relevant terms so the best advice I can give you is sit tight and wait for the algo to be changed or get tons of spammy links from blogs and webrings. Bear in mind that if you make any drastic changes to your content you're likely to be penalised for it by all the SEs including Y!

Thanks for your reply. I suppose I'll have to wait and see what they do with the UK algo. In the meantime I have been decreasing keyword density , see if that helps somewhat, as it seems that the more relevant you are the less it helps in the serps. But thanks for confirming that the UK algo is more links driven, I'll have to work more on that then.
