Looks a lot like Google Sitemaps

I'm not sure if somebody already posted something about this elsewhere, but did you guys notice the new feature on Yahoo Site Explorer [siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com] that lets you add/manage your site (like Google Sitemaps)?

Site validation pending..

Tim,

I remade the search box code for our site, this time using the www form of our domain instead of the [www...] form and the code works. :)

So if you change the make code page to point this out, or preload the form with www. it will help others.

But we can't use it on our NFP site with the ads, will you be offering a an ad-free version for NFP?

I replied to your PM about our site with the url, so you can see ads would be inappropriate.

Yay or nay?

FYI

It seems that some of the searches are now switched to Search Explorer.

Using any of the following

  • site:webmasterworld.com
  • link:http://www.webmasterworld.com/yahoo_search/3039349.htm
  • linkdomain:webmasterworld.com

will be redirected to Yahoo Search Explorer

Using any of the following examples will not be redirected:

  • webmasterworld.com
  • webmasterworld.com
  • site:webmasterworld.com yahoo (searching for webmasterworld posts mentioning yahoo)
  • link:http://www.webmasterworld.com/yahoo_search/3039349.htmBrett Tabke (searching for links to the article mentioning Brett Tabke)
  • linkdomain:webmasterworld.com site:yahoo.com (looking for links to webmasterworld from within yahoo.com)

I got the same error. There is something wrong with that form. If you dig around a little, you will find another form that works just fine.

    thanks kenB...
I knew I saw the link somewhere on this forum and found it at :

    [siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com...]

BUT... I also got an error using this form. It said the page didn't exist even though I KNEW for sure it did.

Looking closer at the resulting error message, I noticed that it stated "examplefull.xml" could not be found. My feed was "exampleFULL.xml"... (uppercase last four letters). So I changed the whole filename to lowercase and it worked fine for both the Site Explorer submission and the above page.

Anyone having this problem... mebbe you need to check your file name...

Just an updated, but yahoo is spidering the links that I sent them in my test run of very deep pages. I haven't seen them popping up in the results yet, but I'm hopeful. Oh and they are testing for custom 404 pages to make sure they do return a 404.

I've noticed Google Sitemaps doing the same thing. They are requesting some really bogus URL that should return a 404 error.

I don't understand this command mentioned earlier:

    linkdomain:webmasterworld.com site:yahoo.com

    Why is site:yahoo.com added?

Im noticing more frequent crawling, and better results in yahoo's SERPs after implementing this.
