Hello People this is my first post so pleeeeease be gentle! :p)

I was checking out my domain name on Yahoo for directory listings and found a competitor site with many listings. All listings in seperate categories and many of them look like categories created for the page in said website.
This situation probably will not make any difference to my website but I would like to know how to mirror this lucky sites Yahoo footprint.
Any thoughts on this?
Note: I have not included any specific details of keyword or domain name but will put these up if Moderator gives ok.

Thanks

Hi Halfloaf and welcome to the boards! If you don't mind, could you use the SickyMail feature (on site email correspondence) and send me the info on this site? I would like to look at this a little further.

Thanks --

I noticed the same problem from one of my competitors. Using link:competitor.com at Altavista shows 10 Yahoo directory links. They are all in the same category, just different countries for each one (Singapore, UK, CA). It's pretty frustrating since their business only operates in the US and has nothing to do with those countries, and also since it's pretty tough to top the link popularity of a site with 10 Yahoo links.

Justin

"They are all in the same category, just different countries for each one"

This is perfectly normal, all sites in the Yahoo directory will pull up in the foreign versions of Yahoo. You just need to go to the foreign versions of Yahoo, find your categories url, and then submit it to the major SE's.

Justin,

Like Seth said, this is pretty standard procedure for Yahoo. If you check your logs or your site in Google you might find the other pages where your site is listed in other country specific Yahoos'.

Once you identify these, you could try submitting those pages where your site is listed to other engines. Also, you could also try placing reciprocal links back to these pages in order for them to be found and indexed by other engines.
