Hmmm! In view of Yahoo's $199 express submission can I get a few pages subdomain website up among the top 5 within only a category- let's say Business & Economy > Business to Business > Furniture---only ?

It looks like not many sites make it into just that category, there are a lot of subcategories underneath they would probably put you in unless the site you want to submit is more general than the subcats. Subdomains sometimes work yet I would think they would need to be substantially different than the main domain and be able to standalone as their own site. Doorway kind of things will not work at Yahoo, you will only lose $199. You might try to look into that sponsored listing position at the top of that category.
