Hi guys,

My company is considering using the overture "search optimizer" service. My problem is that over is asking us to put their javascript on ALL pages in our site as well as separate js on the page that is displayed when user completes the transaction. After looking at the script they want us to place there, it is clear that the data such as transaction amount from each sale will be captured by Over. That makes me feel quite uncomfortable... Any suggestions?

Thank you very much in advance.

Ya, it is a tough call. You are correct in that your data will be used. It just depends on how valuable that data is to you.

hwy2hel, why don't you use any of the 3rd party keyword management systems out there? If you're worried about the SE knowing how much the traffic's worth to you, then don't share that data with them.

You DO need to manage ppc based on cost & conversion data, so the question is very simple - do you build your own system, use one from the search engine(s), or use a 3rd party system.

For what it's worth, very few of the top 500 ppc advertisers are comfortable giving that data to Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask Jeeves, etc.
