Worth it?

A few points:

a) $299 seems a lot of cash for a deeply buried listing in a 'directory' which now defaults to a search and doesn't seem to respect your listing.
b) there's very little evidence of ROI.
c) but there again, $299 for a year is a very small amount in relation to an ongoing advertising budget.
d) but let's be honest, we do it because Google picks up on it - but is this still true?

In short, does G now pay any attention to it?

If not, then I'll use my 299 to do something useful - like, er.., take my cat out for dinner, or my wife, or otherwise invest it in something else worth 299.

Worth renewing? (I suspect not) But please provide opinions :)

I can't say for sure but my opinion is in your case you should do it because you said it is a small dollar figure in the context of an overall advertising budget. Some of the clone pages in the Yahoo directory do confer PageRank on your page and therefore solidify your search engine rankings.

If you're much more stingy and value your time a lot less than your cold hard cash, then avoid Yahoo and spend a few days trying to get other sites to link to you to confer the equivalent PageRank.

Yep - but my PR is 7 - so I'm not short of inbounds.

So I think I'll take the cat out to dinner with my $299... :-)
