I did a 301 re-direct in april
ex. RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example.com
RewriteRule (.*) [example.com...] [R=301,L]

I had backlinks that were going to www and those without www. This was creating douple listing in google and msn, so this is why I did the 301. Last month my site disappeared. It's about 700 pages. I emailed yahoo and msn. Last week yahoo informed me I was penalized but did not give me aspecific reason. Any help would be appreciated.

Have a copy of that email stating you were penalized?

The email was posted and deleted. Terms of Service [webmasterworld.com] item 9 is very specific:
9. Email excerpts of ANY type or length are not allowed on WebmasterWorld. There are no exceptions to this rule.

sorry about that. basically the e-mail said my site could have been banned for a number of things: duplicate content, cloaking, etc.
