Indexed ok in .com but not .co.uk

My site has finally (after months and months) had 340 pages indexed on yahoo's .com index. However, in the .co.uk index only two pages (very unhelpful pages too) are indexed.

Does Yahoo not run all of its regional variations off the main database or do they have seperate indexes for each country? Obviously the .co.uk version is more important to a UK site like my own - firstly as there are less sites to compete with so we should rank higher, and secondly as thats where more of our potential customers will be searching.

I've just noticed that my homepage appears in both indexes, but ranks very much worse in the UK one than in the world one. Is it a different algorithm for the UK index as well?

Theoretically I should rank higher in the UK index as 80% of the sites in my industry are american so by choosing uk only I should eliminate most of the sites above me. I rank #5 for my main keyphrase in .com but only around 20-30 for .co.uk uk results only.

I'd sit tight for a while. Like you said you finally got something in both indexes.
