Are subdomains OK on Yahoo! express?

Dealing with topic related subs on Yahoo!

I have this question from a portal in Canada. They splitted French content in 12 sub domains, we sucessfully had those subs listed on 2 free French language Yahoo on two different categories each. Interface is the same but content is really different from each sub-domains.

Could the English version of this portal do the same on Yahoo.com Express submit?

The portal having a good link popularity, yould the main domain suffer from this split?
Not sure yet if it happens on the french version, too early to tell.
