Yahoo Penalty Based on what?

Are they targeting domain, ip, c blocks

Anyone have any idea as to what yahoo is using to ban a site. I've submitted my site for re-review but "status has not changed". I've done all I can do and it seems like a waste of time to try to change their minds. The next course of action is? New IP, New Domain.....Any Ideas?

my guess is domain and not ip. even if you change domain they might recognize you by your content i think.

One of the things I noticed in common with a lot of penalized sites (and I looked at a lot) is that screen scraper sites had latched on to many. That says to me Yahoo may be penalizing for a lot of things people may have no control over. Scraper sites are insidious in that they don't come asking for permission to link. That is not their intent.

It is about time for Yahoo to do something about the stupid penalties they are forcing on many webmasters. Until then new services will have no meaning for a lot of users.

Honestly, after dealing with various employees at Yahoo,
I don't believe, that anyone at Yahoo really understands the penalties imposed by Inktomi, or for that matter, how to clear them. It's like they bought the Inktomi search engine software, but Ink never provided them with the instruction booklet.

I have to agree with twebdonny.
I have spend last 6 months trying just to figure out what I did wrong to get a penalty, had about 10 emails from yahoo and not 2 of these emails pointed to a signle direction to go about getting the problem fixed, not provided any practical support...

In my view i have a decent site which i have been working on for like at elast 12-14 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the last 4 years and it little hurts to see Yahoo or anyone else labeling you as SPAM and not giving you a chance to even know what you have done wrong.

You're not alone, enotalone.

But I am trying to maintain confidence in the following:

1) My site in the top SERPS of Google and absent from Yahoo! SERPS makes look Google better than Yahoo!. (No, I really believe this >;->).

2) Yahoo! doesn't want to look worse than Google.

Therefore Yahoo! has two choices - either pay Google to dump my site from the Google SERPS too, (unlikely), or else start including my site in its own Y! SERPS.

I could write to Yahoo! and point this out to them, but I think I'll just leave it to them to figure it out for themselves. >;->

They can be cynical but are much better than the guys at webmasterworldfeedback address who seem to know only one thing about yahoo search and that is that they work for it. They are there just to forward your email to editors and maybe email you and say your site will be reviewed.

It is shame Yahoo! puts webmasters through this process but there is no other way unless you can kidnap Tim and ask Yahoo to release the penalty for your site so you will release Tim.

Maybe I can help a bit here. I think Slurp is ignoring text in headings <h></h>. Try a few queries in Yahoo with the text you have between those and see if you get results. I don't.

I dont think the H header has anything to do with the penalties we are discussing here - may be a nice optimization trick if any of us could ever get listed in the SERPs.

Im in the same boat as most with a site thats been around for 5 years, is considered an authority site in G, and is ranked in the top 10 in the Y Directory for some pretty competitive terms, yet when you search on the domain name in the Web results, you get over 3000 scraper sites using my content - Ive complained and even filed copywrite complaints with Yahoo - and everything is ignored. Should have known better than to pay Inktomi for listing a few years ago
