Why did this happen is the question?
First off. I made these sites about 2 years ago and interlinked each and every one *Back then you could get away with it* About a year ago I made sure they were all squeaky clean. Only linking to another when useful to visitors. I was real careful. However there were a few highly competitive keywords that I went after so I did interlink a few sites. I wouldn't say it was heavy interlinking, but a good amount. They were relevent to each other so I thought what the hell. I've had excellent rankings up until last night in yahoo.
I have a feeling yahoo saw all my sites that were pointing to my main site and the interlinking and decided to ban the whole ip c block. Cause everything on the block is gone. Even sites that are totally separate.
Also I have a theory that yahoo lets their site match participants get away with alot more while the free listings get highly scrutinized. Makes sense for them, but sucks for anyone that doesn't pay.
Anyone have any experience with something link this?
Since then and thanks to everyone at these forums I've changed by thinking and am more focused on one large site with useful content and relevent links on ONE domain. It's so much easier. These old sites get a ton of traffic though so I can't just leave them.
I do not think the site would have been penalized for
anything as it is listed very well on google and msn.
It looks like all of the top ranked sites are now "keyword-keyword-keyword" and keywordkeywordkeyword" domains. All of the sites with a Branded domain name have disappeared unless they have some black hat techniques on there site.
Anybody else seeing similiar results?
Might be a coincidence but my Inktomi account expired, now I receive about 15 Y! hits per day as opposed to about 200+
When I do site:www.mysite.com it returns 35 in Google it returns 6000+
We've been with Yahoo for about 3 years and this just happened this week. MSN hits disappeared as well.
Nightmare.
