Looks like they need to fix a few things tho. Clicking "next" brings up [cnn.com...] instead of another page of results
[cnn.com...]
The Y! logo has alt text "powered by" in the upper right, but on the left hand column, the alt text says "powered by yahoo!".
So...did they just flip the switch or did I miss a press release?
CNN also began running Overture's contextual ads a few weeks ago. This had to have been a blow to Google AdSense, since AdSense is by far the leader for providing news sites with contextual advertising.
It is also worth noting that the parent company of CNN is TimeWarner (formerly known as AOLTimeWarner), which makes the non-Google decisions by CNN quite interesting. AOL just exercised its options to buy $22 million worth of shares (7.4 million Google shares, 3% of the company).
At an asking price of $20B, though...
Speculation aside, Yahoo and the entertainment industry have been enjoying a mutually beneficial synergy, and this move plays into Yahoo's strength in delivering the advertising goods in that area.
I think lost in the article is that CNN is switching from G to Y for search. Interesting move
