Searching on Yahoo for site:domain.com returns 4 pages. (these 4 pages are PFI with Inktomi)
Searching for "domain.com" then clicking "more results from this site" returns 80 pages (which is a more realistic figure).
Searching on AltaVista or AllTheWeb for domain:domain.com returns 0 pages
Searching on Yahoo.com for "domain" (without the .com) returns 46 results and ranks my site 45th
This all makes me think I have been penalised, I don’t use any tactics that are in breech of the Content Guidelines, however, I have only been promoting this site for 8 months and the previous SEO was not so white hat. I removed a few things that I wasn’t happy with when I first took the site over but I dont think it was serious enough to get a ban.
So should I follow the appeals procedure or is there a way to get my site reviewed to ensure nothing dodgy is going on before I do this.
I would really like to understand why “more results from this site” and site:domain.com searches return different results as I thought they were the same.
Also when I search for “domain” without the .com my site is listed without the Yahoo Directory link but when I search for “domain.com” I get the directory listing as the first result with the title and description taken from the directory.
It’s all very confusing, or I’m a fool, if anyone can help clarify this mess I would really appreciate it.
