Great rankings on Y! and Google. Can't be found anywhere else.

Had Ink penaltiy and Y! removed it, but no one else did?

My site had a incorrect Ink penalty and I talked to Tim and he took care of it. Now my site ranks great for both Yahoo, and Google.

Weird thing is, it still doesn't rank on msn, alltheweb, or altavista. I thought that Yahoo was powering all of these?

Does removing a penalty for Yahoo not carry over to the other yahoo powered engines?

Thanks for posting this Jchance, it's nice to know that Yahoo is paying attention to the penalty issue and that sites are being restored.

I don't think things are stable with the other properties. Altavista hasn't switched yet, and the others seem to be running slightly different versions of the algo.

Is your site listed in the others, but just not ranking?

Well, on msn the penalty is still there. I can do a site:mydomain.com and see my site but when I do a search where I am #1 on yahoo, on msn.com I am not in the top 100.

For alltheweb.com doing a site:mydomain.com does not list any of my pages at all. (this is weird to me)

I have an wild guess,
but something is going on.

For me ATW has been emptied from old ATW index + Inktomi, and know the index is pure Inktomi.

Maybe they canīt take away penaltiess for penalized sites in Inktomi database, but on yahoo they can let them in the back door.

Today they spidered my robots.txt with ATW crawler, maybe they use the ATW crawler with Inktomi technology for ATW index and slurp for Yahoo, that way they can easily study and make changes to ATW for their testings, isolating the problem to find out where the problem is with the Inktomi technology.?

Just guessing
For some reason they emptied ATW but left the Yahoo index that are not included in serps.

Actually the Yahoo index for penalized sites that donīt show up in serps is rather fresch, I have pages that are only weeks old.

All of my sites returned to Yahoo without contacting anybody at Yahoo. They were definitely penalized. Since they were PFI sites they are still penalized by the Ink engines though. But it doesn't mean anything. I think sites will be popping in and out at regular intervals for quite a while, if you're dealing with an automated algo.

With Inktomi it always seemed they were mixing so many databases it was backfiring. One week it was Looksmart results the next it was Ink. Each seemed to negate the other as a dup. Even today the LS results pop in and out of MSN.
