I followed the instructions posted earlier in this forum. I found my web's catagory and clicked on 'recommend a site' next to 'advanced search'. I answered all the questions but stopped when it requested my credit card number. Can someone help me?

"Can someone help me?"

You are dealing with the Directory, that is not what was being talked about. This week we should see an "add url" link somewhere on Yahoo Search (something like [addurl.alltheweb.com...] ) where you can add your URL to a list of sites for Yahoo to crawl. Tim said this would appear this week, so there may be as many as six more days to wait.

Yahoo will be providing a "free add url" for their Yahoo search as Steve suggested. I don't think we've heard specifics yet, but we'll announce it as soon as we hear.

My guess is that to keep people happy they will be crawling the web quite a lot and indexing a lot of content for free. I do think that a lot of this crawling will be of informational, non-commercial content. However, they might be adding a few commercial sites as well.

I have a few sites ranking in Yahoo search for commercial listings that we never paid for.

If you go to www.google.com and then use the Advanced Search feature, there is a link at the foot of the page called Submit Your Site. Unfortunately it gives you a web page unavailable message!
