Ways to get into Y!

Ways to get into Yahoo!

Hi,

I understand that there are 2 ways to get into Y!: Overture PPC and Inktomi PFI. I am currently in Overture PPC already and I feel that it's too expensive to get into Inktomi PFI. Is there any other ways that can get YahooSlurp to spider my website?

We all knowing that Y! is making big changes, I can't possibly wait for Y! to completely drop off Google. Is there anything that I can do now?

Looking forward to your replies!

GS_schua how many urls do you want to be included in Yahoo. Are we talking thousands or just a few?

Maybe paid for inclusion is the only sure fire way that you will get all your pages indexed, with a 48hr refresh rate.

Trusted feed would be appropriate if you have thousands of pages.

Trusted feed is great but once you stop it is unlikely you will get back in to Y.

unless you have a penalty or ban a few links to sites could do it. All Y! Slurp has to do is find you somehow. Maybe you should buy legitimate text links or exchange links with someone?

I don't think they try to keep sites out on purpose (their lifetime ban /penalty is another story). It would not be in their interest if they want to seriously challenge Google or the upcoming MSN search engine.

Well Walkman,

It may be by accident that they are keeping certain sites out, though how then can they justify a lifetime penalty?

Google's algorithm is much more sophisticated than Yahoo's current feed.

If Google hasnt penalized a site, and Google has spent far more money and time than Yahoo in determing what sites to exclude, it is tough to envision that a yahoo/ink permanent penalty is justified.

Provided Y/I continue to base what is "in and out" on prehistoric determinations they will cause resentment among potential customers.

While Yahoo and Inktomi may now view this as a small cist in their results, it has the potential to grow into a cancerous tumour.

The concept of a lifetime penalty, for a determination made by a algorithim, where a site owner may have received advice from a so called SEO company that resulted in the penalty, is overally harsh and uncalled for.

It is especially hypocritical when Yahoo and Ink. continue to rake in $1,000,000s from the very same advetisers who they are banning from their search results.

cabos,
I haven't seen anyone trying to justify that. Not even Tim, the Y! guy. I remember him saying that they'll announce something this week at the Conference regarding reviews and appeals because he realizes it's not fair or good business practice. I'll wait, mainly because I have no choice. Otherwise it's like a life sentence for stealing (or in a lot of cases for the robocop thinking that you stole) a candy. No trial, no appeal.

Y! would be pissed and hurting if AOL or Earthlink, blocked Yahoo site from their users for life (for no reason or minor reason), wouldn't they? That's how we feel and I hope they know that. 25-30% of my people used to come from Y!, now 1-2%. Picture getting a 25% pay cut overnight for something you're not even sure you did.

That adds up to a lot of money, and honestly, if it's between Adwords or Overture, guess which one I'll use? Every thing adds up.

Plus keeping the years old list is ridicolous, domains get bought and sold, techniques change and so on. Even Slurp had problems with 301 redirects...

I have hope that something will be done. If anyone has any questions or need ammo to convince the Yahoo managment why it's needed, just read around. Plenty of innocent and well meaning people are being affected.
