I'm not sure that this is the best place to put this... but since Yahoo owns Ink, I thought I would put it here.

It appears that Hotbot has stopped using Inktomi resuts (as the default engine) and started using ask jeeves as the default results for their "search." This is very interesting. I wonder what the reasoning is. Here are a few crappy guesses.

1. Hotbot forsees the coming change at Yahoo to Ink and they don't want to have the exact same results as Yahoo.
2. Hotbot finds Ink results poor and wants better results for their users.
3. There is no 3.

I'm sure there have to be some other potential reasons. Hotbot doesn't bring in a whole lot of traffic for me, but I find it really interesting that they have switched the default engine over to Ask. Any theories?

Ya, they are back to Inktomi here too. Last night in Arizona, they were defaulted to Ask Jeeves.
It will be interesting to see if that was a test or if it was a bug...
hmmm.
