Shouldn't Yahoo benefit from the recent Google algo change?

If the Florida change is good for Google why would it be any different for Yahoo. Supposedly less commercial serps with more clicks on the ads is a good thing from Yahoo's point of view. I'm not sure what to make of the situation now concerning the implementation of Ink. Will Y stay with Google or try to mimic the current Google algo in Ink?

Any thoughts on this?

to be honest Jon_King i am still kind of lost and can't beleive what happened to me after florida update. i am nto sure where to go and what to do and how to do. i also dont like the current results of some keywrods that i monitor since 1 link does not work and other 3 use cloaking, hidden text and links from top 5 links. i kind of hope that google will wake up and maybe get my website in by next month or i will have to look into other options. i kind of hope that yahoo will start it's own search so that way if i am not at google fast i can play with yahoo :)

The main difference is that Yahoo's not running ads across the right hand side.

It would be interesting to find out from people advertising with Overture how this change is affecting their CTR's. My guess is that there are massive benefits for adwords because they run alongside the listings, but not as much of an impact with Yahoo as they are on the top.

The point I was attempting to make is the free listings have a reduction in commercial sites so the searcher would look other places on the page for commercial information increasing the chance for a paid click, be it AdWords or Overture.

True. But the Y paid placement could be even better than AdWords as users would scan the paid listings before they get to the free ones. And I'm not sure if the physical placement of commercial ads has as big of a difference if the free serps do not contain the info a searcher is needing.
