Yahoo Europe switches to Overture - now!

The long awaited switch to Overture PPC listings starts now on Yahoo Europe, Germany, UK, Spain, France, Italy.

Up to 4 listings on top of serps, 3 on the bottom.

Overture announced the switch over in a mail to advertizers, official press release to follow.

hm, this is probably old news, but I just noticed myself that yahoo.fr is tracking clicks. Maybe in view of using CTR in the future to calculate costs for adwords-like offers?

Well, that's Espotting's primary partner gone. Makes bid management easier now though :)

Now with 4 to 5 results on the top being PPC and the following results from Google why pay $299 for the Yahoo directory?

I have never been in the Directory was going to until they put the price per year.

I am still trying to figure out exactly what yahoo is these days, They seem to be trying a bit of everything and although I am first for all my keywords they don't attract enough visitors.

Yahoo is playing a game of catch up, whilst Google has the special something.

Maybe Yahoo will dump Google all together and just show PPC and then yahoo directory results etc.

Pretty funny series of messages received today in France.

First overture, struttin' their stuff, proud to show now on Yahoo in Europe. You'll show up so much more, yahoo is an industry leader, yadda yadda yadda.

Then, three hours later, espotting.fr comes through with a message, titled "espotting pursues its development" (I'm translating from French here). Stating clearly that they no longer show on yahoo following its acquisition of "one of our competitors". Then careful wording to show that actually, they're growing exponentially, yadda yadda yadda.

Probably still worth it for the link. By the way - Overture results are also appearing in the Yahoo directory results (in the UK at least).

Of course, Google's life on Yahoo is only days away now as well, which is the only good thing about all this from an SEM's point of view - we need competition and broken up market share to operate efficiently and add value to clients. Losinf Espotting on Yahoo is a pity but hey - gotta live with the facts. Glad I get on well with Overture.

Yep, I notice that on Yahoo main site too. It's Overture's Contextual Advertising is working now I guess.

I still think it's worth submitting to Yahoo for people that manage only a couple of sites and are actively developing them. The Yahoo listings gets you PR, a few links (from the other countries), a little bit of traffic, and a few extra points in the "mapping" aspect of the algo (for being associated with an authority).

For people that have multiple sites, it would only be worth it to submit one - the ones that's getting the most "genuine" white had development.
