Yahoo Mail error; cannot compose or reply

I have the same problem as the user in this forum: [webmasterworld.com...] (I'd reply there, but the post is too old and it won't allow me to do so).

I am running Windows XP with IE 6. Ever since I got my new HP computer a few months ago, I can't compose (or reply to) Yahoo Mail that is in "color and graphics" mode. I can only do so in "plain" mode. Just like Studly Senior said, I can't tab into or click into the text message box either. It's the weirdest thing. I have looked at Yahoo's Help section and even written them, but they are totally useless. I have contacted HP as well, and they are dumbfounded.

Any thoughts guys? I am pretty confident this is a Microsoft problem... most likely an IE 6 setting that I don't know how to fix. Any suggestions are welcomed! Thanks.

Hi Brian, that's very odd. I don't see why it would be a Microsoft problem though. I'm running XP and IE6, and everything works fine. Do you know of any techies that could mess around with your PC?

Do you have any 3rd party toolbars installed?
Are you fully patched?

I have the Yahoo toolbar installed.... you think uninstalling might help?

What do you mean by fully patched?

>>NV firewall causes this problem, If you have NV internet security installed de select script blocking and office plug ins and try again. I had a very similiar problem and had to remove NV firewall.

Does this help?

Chndru, thanks for the info! I'll be back at my home PC in a few hours and I'll check it out. This definitely looks like some useful info.

FYI -- I DO use Norton Anti-Virus along with ZoneAlarm (the free version). I do NOT have Norton Internet Security however.

I'll play around with Norton and post back here with my progress shortly.... Thanks again.

Nope, didn't work. Disabled office plugins; also disabled ZoneAlarm and Norton Anti-Virus; then re-launched web browser (and even restarted). Nothing doing. Thanks for the tip though.
