im thinking of submitting to yahoo directory and paying the $299? for .com listing, so what does this mean for my site, how does yahoo then index those pages does it still boil down to the fact that if my site is poorly optomised that i wil not featurein search results?

in simple form can anyone explain briefly the advantages of being listed in yahoo and how yahoo indexes me!
thanks!

From a puzzled person!? ;)

The benefit of a submission depends on various factors, such as the category you want to get listed in, your keywords, etc.

A benefit of a Yahoo listing is that it improves your Google rankings. Also, if you get listed in a category that gets returned at the top of the SERPs that's good.

However, if you're in a category that has many other sites and doesn't get returned, you may not get much traffic.

If you have the $$$, the listing doesn't hurt. If you don't, you may want to focus on ranking with Google so you can get exposure in Yahoo.

Hope this helped.
