How long between editor visit and directory update?

I submitted to Yahoo regional directory and was visited only about 2 days later by the editor. (At least I THINK it was an editor). How long before it shows up (or doesn't show up)?

Will they email me either way? ...or just make me guess and resubmit and make them mad?

Usually they visit and make a decision on the site immediately, it may take a few days after that for the site to show up. If it doesn't, here [webmasterworld.com] is the strategy I used to use. Patience and proper follow up are key in free submit.

Just had another of my sites added (major blessings).

I submitted on the 4th. My URL was checked immediately by their "add3.yahoo.com" spider to verify it was correct.

Then "nat206-251-17-16.corp.yahoo.com" came a visiting on the 7th (the human editor). Then I got my acceptance e-mail on the 8th. And given the potential for this site, the keywords I have conveniently placed in my domain name, title and descrtion, plus the relative popularity of the subject / lack of competition, this was probably the best US$199 I ever spent.

Hope the stats help

:-)

Oops, missed tha last part - sorry. It then takes two days to appear in the listings after you are approved (been there, seen that many times). And around 7 days for it to actually settle into the main directory (rather than the new sites temporary directory).

It will generally stay in the regional.

Nube you could try replying to the editor that sent you the acceptance letter and requesting the site to be added to the main category as well. It won't happen automatically unless you request it.
You have to be careful in crafting the email: explain why the site is not *just* regional and what the benefits are of having that site in the main category.
Spend a lot of time writing the email; focus on why having your site listed in the main category will be a benefit to surfers. If you write it well they might add it. I've had 100% success with this (requesting sites to be added to other categories), but I put a lot of work into each request.

Good luck!

nube:

I have never received an email from Yahoo unless it was a biz express submission.
