Yahoo dance?

Yahoo doesn't dance so why changing SERPs?

I submitted my site manually to Google and Yahoo last week. (Free submit). A few days ago I appeared in Google in 1st place and then I realised I appeared in Yahoo in 1st too. Both results pages were the same. (My keywords are very specific ie. my name and there is virtually no competition).

However, in the last few days in Yahoo I have moved from 1st place to third place. My url is www.myname.com and these other pages just happen to have [my name] in them somewhere (as links). I am a Yahoo newbie and a bit confused. I presume that Yahoo doesn't dance like Google, so why the drop in ranking after only a week? (The site hasn't been changed at all). Your thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Yahoo uses Google results, so you would pretty much see the same results in almost same order.

However after its acquisition of inktomi, Yahoo is planning to move over to its own engine : Inktomi and dropping Google.

It has been noticed that Yahoo has ocassionally introduced its inktomi database atleast in Yahoo Canada and same could be possible in case of Yahoo.com

Thats probably why you noticed the change.

galaga, it's typical to rank high when first getting your website indexed by Google. Also typical, it then drops after a few days and may even drop again. Since Yahoo currently is using Google results, as Imaster said, this may be what you are seeing.
