Yahoo! Submissions & Browser Compatibility

What browsers do Yahoo! test our sites against?

Are they still checking to make sure that sites are compatible with Netscape 4?

Some of my CSS-styled code is looking funky in browsers that seem to have braved the ice age (go figure!) and less than 3 percent of our visitors use the old Netscape browsers, therefore, I don't see any need worrying about cross-compatibility with anything earlier than Netscape 5....except for Yahoo!

As I remember a year ago, they were counting it against web sites if they weren't optimized to run the entire browser gauntlet.

Anyone have a list of the browsers they use or the name of a site that they may use to check for design "nasties"?

Hi HyperGeek,

We haven't been checking too much for Netscape compatibility and everything we've submitted has been accepted.

Yahoo really relaxed their acceptance policy and now will let pretty much anybody who pays, in to their directory.

If you want to be super cautious, then I'd go as far as testing with a Mac on Netscape 4.0. If not, I'd just submit.

Good luck.

I agree, if you pay they'll let you in. I've seen sites that stall in NN 4.7 and were still admitted.
